City of London bets on sustainable
mobility: public transport, bicycle lanes and zones restricted for use by motor
vehicles
Today cities are home to more than 50% of
the world’s population, and account for 75% of the world’s greenhouse gas
emissions. However, cities are compact and could be hugely efficient. Cities
cause many of the problems, but they could also be the solution. Efficiency in
energy production, transport, waste production and waste management, along with
changes in lifestyle, are practical ways of reducing climate stress for the
citizens of tomorrow.
